As a business owner, you need a plan for success and goals are going to be how you get there. The end of the year is the perfect time to reflect on everything that has happened during the year. Think about what worked and what didn’t, what needs to change, and what needs to grow.

Setting goals for the new year are critical for growing your business. But where do you start? Setting goals can be overwhelming to some that it’s an excuse not to start. Here are some tips to ensure that you set your goals and go into the new year with motivation and drive.

Write your goals down – Goals become more real when they are written down. You are then able to see them and break them down into smaller goals. It’s also a good idea to have them in a place you’ll see throughout your day to keep you inspired and on track with your goals. Some good places to put them would be the bathroom mirror, your desk, as a phone wallpaper or desktop background.

Create a variety of goals – Don’t just create goals for your business, but in all areas of your life. Some examples of other areas would be financial goals, relationship goals, spiritual goals, and health goals. Doing this will help you improve all aspects of your life.

Create smaller goals that are easily measured – Instead of creating large goals that will take awhile to accomplish, these smaller goals will keep you consistently hitting your goals. Some examples would be a daily 10-minute walk, reading every night before bed, eating dinner at the table every day.

Don’t set goals that are too hard to reach – Make sure your goals will push you a little but aren’t too far out of reach so that you can’t accomplish them. It may even be a good idea to create many smaller goals to reduce the overwhelm. For example, instead of saying I’m going to pay off all my debt, decide to pay $50 a month towards the debt.

Celebrate your accomplishments – It’s so important to celebrate when you reach goals. At times it can be easy to continue to look towards the next goal without rewarding yourself. So, make sure you celebrate your accomplishments!

Now that you have these stepping stones it’s time to start making goals for the new year! If any of your goals are marketing, web or social media related – feel free to reach out to see how we can help.
